Is it really that unexpected? Microsoft invent new words and technologies every 30 seconds for things that exist and work better. The most obvious example is IE6/7 and the dreded &quot;hasLayout&quot;. Whats worse is that they spend years trying to force people to use it.

I don&#039;t know if it has anything to do with thier egos or if the marketing department thinks that it will help thier brand to go against the flow. But it&#039;s bloody annoying, it seems they are only just starting to get the idea that the world does not, in fact, revolve around them.
