Microsoft invent new words and technologies every 30 seconds for things that exist and work better. The most obvious example is IE6/7 and the dreded "hasLayout". Whats worse is that they spend years trying to force people to use it. I don't know if it has anything to do with thier egos or if the marketing department thinks that it will help thier brand to go against the flow.
