Do you like this story?

Do you remember Ling off Dragons Den? The Crazy Japanese Chinese girl who used a rocket to advertise her online car leasing website? Well I just stumbled across her website and being a web designer almost spat out the tea I was drinking. Forget the rule book, forget design best practices and certainly forget anything you have learnt thus for, Ling of Lingscars.com shows us how it’s done!

Lingscars.com

Proof bad websites work!

For as much as I should hate this site, and there are plenty of reasons why I should, I must admit I love it! Seriously…

A lot of businesses are accused of having a faceless website with no personality or connection with there customers. LingsCars.com has Lings crazy personality spattered all over it. The website performs too, in 2005 it turned over £1m in car leasing revenue, netting over £100k gross profit for the referral driven revenue generated online based company (meh!).

There’s even a TV advert

Well there’s a few improplugs on YOUTUBE, this is my favourite:

The end…

Forget the Circus, I want to run away from home and join Ling in her crazy world. Time to learn from the master.

Wow!!!!! I have just spotted this, Frog. Thanks so much. I put a lot of effort into my website, and while it’s not perfect, it is nearly – hahahahaha!

Things are growing, current climate is providing opportunities.

I appreciate the kind comments, but in my circus you would have to perform tricks, Frog (I will say frog is delicious animal, roast or barbecue. We eat a lot in China).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh, I have just noticed that you called me a J-A-P-A-N-E-S-E in the article. This is like calling a Pole a German. Or calling a Canadian, American. Or calling a New Zealander, Australian. Or calling a Jew an Arab, or calling an Englishman, French.

    But much much much worse.

While individually a Japanese may be a very nice person, as a race and in history and still brainwashed with it at school… do you realise what they have done to the Chinese (and to many other races, Malays, Polynesians, Indonesians, Fillipinos, Viet, Laos, Indians, Thais… the list is never-ending)? Start with mass murder and invasion, and continue until millions of men, women and children are slaughtered worse than goats. And the Japanese NEVER apologise. Quite apart from the horrors they inflicted on UK citizens and Austrailians, Americans, New Zealanders, and every other race… and they have never regretted. People are still alive who suffered. They treat every other race as inferior dogs.

I am not, never have been, and never will be a Jap.

Did I get the crazy part right?

  4. Ling Valentine Says:

    Yes. :) Crazy is good.

    Japanese is not so good.

My mum and dad will go mental if they see I’ve been called a Japanese!

    Banzai indeed.

  5. frog Says:

What would you like to be called? A crazy, noodle eating, car leasing entrepreneur from the east???

  6. Ling Valentine Says:

Chinese will do. Even British! Both are true from different perspectives. Anything but Japanese, frankly.

They make good cars, but they have a legacy (NOT a Subaru Legacy).

I remember seeing the Lings Cars missile alongside the motorway long before the TV appearance on Dragon’s Den, it’s certainly worked well and helped brand recognition as did “eating the Dragons for breakfast”

As a website Lings Cars is a little “busier” and crazier than mine, but it obviously does the job very well! :)
