We’re in the wrong business

We’re in the wrong business.

I have never been impressed with Ticketmaster – the booking fees always irritated me and their postage rates seemed extortionate.

Radiohead, my favourite band, are selling tickets through what I have always understood to be their ‘official’ online store at www.waste.uk.com. At first I thought this was great – I could bypass the middle man and get the tickets at their face value for once… no such luck!

The face value of the two tickets is £85, handling fees are £8.50 and shipping is £4.95

Now I can probably get over the handling fee, but then look at the WASTE ticket terms & conditions:

“In the event of cancellation, only the face value of the ticket will be refunded. w.a.s.t.e accept no liability for any consequential loss incurred due to cancellation or postponement of concerts.”

Wow – so if they cancel I lose £13.45 for nothing.

So either I vote with my feet and don’t buy or I take a chance and buy them. Life’s for living so I have bought them. But after forking out for the In Rainbows Discbox which I thought was a success the opportunity to extend the ethos to ticket sales has been sadly missed.
