A good article and I have to admit it's not something I've really considered before despite owning a netbook. I think part of the reason is because most of the sites I use are already well designed and work on my tiny 8.9" screen at 1024*600. I think vertical scrolling may or may not be problematic since everyone expects vertical scrolling on a website anyway... but it's still something that needs to be considered given the reduction in screen real estate.

"web designers should cater to the reduced vertical resolution of the netbook crowd"

Great point. Thing vertical limit applies to most wide screen formats. Widescreen laptops may boost a wider viewing area but causes designs limitations when your asked to design 'within the fold'.

Thanks for the thought provoking comment Tyler

I'm having some issues on a few websites w/ my Dell Mini9. I LOVE the netbook, but some flashed based sites don't allow rescaling (a great feature of Firefox using Ctrl+ or Ctrl-, but doesn't work on some flash windows). I was thinking along the lines of the author... web designers should cater to the reduced vertical resolution of the netbook crowd.

I treated myself to one of these last week and i have to say, so far so good. Lovely design, great storage and speed and comes with Linux - seems easy to use for a 'Windows' person like me :D
